Description | Enrique Mendoza Cabernet-Monastrell Crianza - Red Wine
Enrique Mendoza Cabernet-Monastrell Crianza - Red Wine is a red wine from the Alicante region, produced by Bodegas Enrique Mendoza from equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Monastrell. The grapes are selected from Finca el Chaconero and Valle de las Quebradas, at the foot of Cabezo de la Virgen de Villena. The Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in sandy-loamy, cool, and well-drained soils, while the Monastrell comes from sandy-loam soils, under strict drought conditions and with low plant density per hectare.
Fermented in small stainless steel tanks, this wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels and ages for 12 months in French Allier oak and American Oregon oak barrels. It presents a ruby-red color with garnet reflections and medium-high intensity. On the nose, notes of ripe fruit, red berries, spices and menthol hints of Cabernet stand out, combined with aromas of Mediterranean undergrowth, such as rosemary, thyme and bay leaf, brought by the Monastrell, over a background of smoke, charcoal and cigar.
On the palate, it reveals a round and serious entry, with fine and elegant tannins. The presence of Monastrell offers freshness, vivacity and balance to the whole, while the Cabernet contributes structure and body. It is recommended to serve it between 14 and 16 ºC. It is an excellent option to accompany spicy stews, veal, poultry and pasta dishes.
