Description | Burmester Colheita 2005 - Port Wine
Burmester Colheita 2005 - Port Wine is a Colheita Port from the Porto and Douro region, produced by Burmester. Made from traditional Douro grape varieties, it results from grapes harvested manually at the ideal point of ripeness, followed by destemming, crushing and careful maceration to extract color, tannins and aromas. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats until the right moment, then it is interrupted with the addition of grape brandy, giving rise to the characteristic fortified profile of this style. Aging in oak barrels, never less than 7 years, contributes to its complexity and aromatic depth.
It presents a clear brick color and a fresh and expressive aroma, with notes of honey, plum, and spices. On the palate, it reveals itself as elegant and delicate, with candied fruit well integrated into hints of dried fruit, in a harmonious and persistent whole. The finish is fresh, long, and enveloping, prolonging the typical sophistication of a Colheita aged in wood.
Served slightly chilled, it is an excellent choice to accompany cured cheeses with dried fruit, toasted almonds, and desserts such as crème brûlée, tarte tatin, or orange tart.
